JEDDAH: The General Organization for Social Insurance warned that they will deprive private schools from certification if they don’t raise teachers’ salaries to at least SR 5,000.
The GOSI said in a statement that it is insisting the private schools abide by a royal decree that set the minimum salary for teachers in private schools at SR 5,000.
GOSI Gov. Abul Aziz Al-Habdan said SR 5,000 is now the subscription fee to the social insurance according to the new regulation.
He said that employers reserve the right to file a complaint against the decision with GOSI.
Al-Habdan urged the school owners to change the salaries registered in the social insurance to the minimum amount.
“Schools that fail to comply will be subject to legal consequences and will be deprived of GOSI certifications and other services,” he said.
He said there is cooperation between the social insurance and the human resources fund in this regard.
Al-Habdan did urge Saudi and non-Saudi teachers to make sure their employers correct their salary situations.
He added that a private sector employee is entitled to a nonoccupational disability pension if he or she has a period of contribution in GOSI reaching 12 consecutive months, and suffered from a nonoccupational disability while in employment.
